Easter excursion to Lushoto and Pangani
Day One
Date 7th April 2012
After weeks of preparation we started our Easter excursion to Lusoto and Pangani in Tanga region. Enjoying the nature and people beside the road we reached to beautiful accommodation Maweni Farm. It is located at Soni, 18km before Lushoto town.
It took about 6 hours to reach Maweni due to some technical issues in our vehicle. Before we had our lunch, we spent about two hours at the beautiful Mwani Farm garden. It was really a good place to relax, enjoy nature and photography.
Lunch was served at about 1:30pm. Soon after enjoying delicious fried fish, chips and fresh salad, we started our tour to Irente view point. Due to heavy rains, road was slippery and muddy. Therefore we stopped our vehicle about 1km before the view point and hiked to the point.
After spending some time at view point we return to our vehicle.
Guess what happened then? Our vehicle was struck in the mud. With the help of villagers we were able to take the vehicle out of the mud. I will never forget the help of innocent and cooperative villagers there.
On our way we didn't forget to stop at Lushoto church.
Next we drove to find good food for dinner. We had our dinner at Lwans. Thereafter we returned to our accommodation to have a good night sleep. I really liked the luxury tented accommodation.
Highlight of the day : stuck in the mud.
Day Two
Date 8th April 2012
As usual I am the first one to get up early in the morning. I started photographing dawn at Maweni farm.
After having breakfast we enjoyed walking around Maweni farm watching birds, flora and fauna.
At about 10am we started our journey to Pangani. On our way to Pangani, we thought of going to Amani Nature reserve and visit Amani Butterfly project. unfortunately due to bad conditions of the road, we dropped the idea and drove to Tanga. We reached 'the dead city' Tanga around 2pm and we had our lunch at Mkonge hotel. It was located on the hospital road.
After lunch we resumed our drive to Pangani. It is a very beautiful costal area in west cost of Tanzania. once we reached to our accommodation, capricano beach cottages, we were warmly welcomed by our host mama Annabel. After unloading our stuff, we started enjoying the beauty of very silent beach. In the evening we had our BBQ on the deck at Caprcano Beach cottages under the star and watched the moon come out of the sea.
Sea food was really nice over there. We went to bed under the twilight around 11pm.
Day Three
Date 9th April 2012
On 8th we return to Dar es salam after having our breakfast from Caproano Beach Cottages.
End or a another successful and enjoyable trip.
